Is there a mind in the first place ? What you call mind is an illusion. It starts from the ‘I’ thought. Without the gross or subtle senses you cannot be aware of the body or the mind. Still it is possible for you to be without these senses. In such a state you are either asleep or aware of the Self only. Awareness of the Self is ever there. Remain what you truly are and this question will not arise.

Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharishi, from the classic, ‘Talks’, p 181

I really like your page and i’m very grateful to you for sharing your knowledge!
I’ve got a question, what’s the difference between the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Transcendental Meditation and the Ramana Maharshi Meditation?
I used to do Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Transcendental Meditation, i started more than one year ago, very pround of it,but now i discover the Ramana Maharshi Meditation.

They look very similar, same ritual and same pratic (one is free, the other not…on the material level the Maharishi TM is more ”commercial”) and they all come from the Veda and the Ayurveda culture, but what’s the real difference? they use the same Mantra?
    thank you

      Thank you.
Regarding your question as to the difference between TM & Ramana Maharishi’s approach – they are not the same at all. This question is very difficult to answer off hand. Ramana Maharishi always directed the seeker to question his own sense of individuality. The ‘I’ in every one of us. To find the source from which this I thought springs up. I would suggest that you go through some of the literature that is available at the Ramana Maharishi’s site, especially the small booklet “Who Am I?”. This will give you an idea of what is meditation according to Ramana Maharishi. Ramana Maharishi calls this method ‘Self Enquiry’. This method can be followed by anyone. There is no ritual, no belief system, no mantra. It is beyond all religions.
As a starter you can try this:
The official Ramana Maharishi website is:

      All the best..
