So long as you think you are the individual you believe in God. On worshiping God, God appears to you as Guru. On serving Guru He manifests as the Self. This is the rationale.

The very facts of repetition, of struggling on and on and of endurance and perseverance, in spite of boredom and despair and complete lack of conviction are really crucial. They are not important by themselves, but the sincerity behind them is all-important. There must be a push from within and pull from without.

….Of course when there is total surrender, complete relinquishment of all concern with one’s past, present and future, with one’s physical and spiritual security and standing, a new life dawns, full of beauty, then the Guru is not important, for the disciple has broken the shell of self-defense. Complete self-surrender by itself is liberation.

When you sit quiet and watch yourself, all kinds of things may come to the surface. Do nothing about them, don’t react to them, as they come so will they go, by themselves. All that matters is mindfulness, total awareness of oneself or rather of one’s mind.

….Birth and death are but points in time. Life weaves eternally its many webs. The weaving is in time, but life itself is timeless. Whatever name and shape you give to its expressions, it is like the ocean – never changing, ever changing.

….The main point to grasp is that you have projected onto yourself a world of your own imagination, based on memories, on desires and fears, and that you have imprisoned yourself in it. Break the spell and be free.

….Certainly. Help yourself and that is itself according to God‘s Will. Every action is prompted by Him only. As for prayer for the sake of others, it looks so unselfish on the surface of it. But analyse the feeling and you will detect selfishness there also. You desire others’ happiness so that you may be happy. Or you want the credit for having interceded on others’ behalf. God does not require an intermediary. Mind your business and all will be well.
